How to Help During COVID-19
Over the course of more than a century, Loyola University New Orleans has endured and overcome World War I, the Great Influenza of 1918, World War II, and Hurricane Katrina and the levee failures of 2005. Once again, we are guided by our Jesuit and Catholic mission to be a source of ingenuity and hope in a challenging time. Many Loyola alumni are on the front lines providing care and solving problems in the pandemic of 2020, and our faculty are training tomorrow's innovators and leaders.
There are several ways alumni and donors can support Loyola's ongoing mission.
How can I connect with fellow alumni during this time?
Stay connected to the alumni community this academic year with webinars, our Virtual Golf Tournament, and the Wolves on the Prowl Community Service Campaign. Hosted by Fr. Justin Daffron, the Finding God in All Things webinar features in-depth alumni discussion of how we find God in everyday life. Loyola alumni, family, and friends across the country can enjoy safe outdoor sporting activities while supporting the Wolf Pack in the 2020 Virtual Golf Tournament. Join the Wolves on the Prowl Community Service campaign in November. Find local and virtual community service opportunities.
What are Loyola’s biggest giving needs at this time?
Loyola University serves as a source of stability for over 4,500 students, offering them not only education, but often employment, counseling, spiritual strength, community, and housing as well. When the pandemic first reached New Orleans, effective planning led to an early and nearly seamless transition to online education for the social distancing these times require. The Loyola Fund is essential to the university's continuing financial stability in challenging times. Your generosity has tremendous impact as Loyola continues to educate students in quickly-changing circumstances and prepares to return to the campus we all know and love. Make your gift here.
Is there a way to share job opportunities?
If you know of a job opening or internship within your company or community that may be of interest to Loyola students, please share it! Loyola students use the Handshake platform to search for job opportunities, and we encourage all alumni and donors to add openings to our system. Jill Boatright, Director for Career Development, (email@example.com) can assist with any Handshake questions you may have.
What benefits are available to alumni and donors through the CARES Act?
The CARES Act recently passed by Congress in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has several features that may benefit Loyola alumni and donors, including student loan forbearance and tax incentives. Get the full details.
How do I reach someone in University Advancement or Alumni Engagement?
The entire Advancement and Alumni staff is just a phone call or email away! The University Advancement staff directory is available here. All staff members have forwarded their office phones to their cell phones, so telephone contact will continue as usual.
